We offer fun, original audio stories for kids ages 5–12 about other countries and cultures. Young listeners are introduced to how children around the world live, play, learn, eat, and celebrate—all from the perspective of a child. Each story comes with a parent guide full of discussion topics, fun facts, recipes, and activity ideas to enrich the experience.

Be Naturally Curious
Science can be done anywhere! Be Naturally Curious mini-courses give parents the resources to teach higher-level scientific concepts to all styles of learners through stories, crafts, games, movement-based activities, and experiments. HopeTree Family Services is a non-profit organization with many services for families and children. We will share information about our foster care program, including the details of upcoming foster parent information sessions and how to become a foster parent.

James Monroe’s Highland
James Monroe’s Highland is a historic site with a new story to tell! America’s fifth president lived at Highland, with his family, from 1799-1823. Between a fire that destroyed the main residence and enhancements by later owners, mystery and misunderstanding surrounded the site for years. Only now are historians and archaeologists peeling back the layers of history to discover Highland—and Monroe’s—true past. Highland is open for guided tours and group reservations year round. Keadron Higgs Violin
Keadron Higgs is a professional violinist and instructor in Richmond. She began learning the violin at age 7 and trained for 10 years under Deborah Spinosa of the Phoenix Symphony and Eugene Lombardi, former concertmaster of the Phoenix Symphony. Keadron has more than 28 years of combined teaching and performance experience and has been a member of numerous regional and state orchestras, usually holding the position of concertmaster. Keadron is available for private violin instruction, offering lessons in classical violin for children (from age 5) to adults.

Since 1963, the Peninsula SPCA has provided shelter and adoption services for the hopeless pets of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and York County. Here at the Peninsula SPCA, Humane Education is a key part of our mission. The Peninsula SPCA has developed STEM Programs for Pets: a program that engages students in essential experiences of humane education coupled with STEM Design Challenges. I offer an online Spanish Elementary program for primary ages and online Spanish courses for middle and high school students.

Virginia Vision Therapy Center
Vision disorders are one of the most underdiagnosed conditions in the United States today.  That may seem like an overstatement, but the fact is that many conditions which are treatable through vision therapy get misdiagnosed as ADD, or worse, laziness or even stupidity. Many vision disorders are not discoverable through a “20/20” eye exam. Advances in modern medicine offer numerous strategies to ease or possibly alleviate vision disorders. Vision therapy is the result of these advances.
