Will Shaw is 67 and has been married to Margaret Yates Shaw for 49 years. (A teenage marriage, it’ll never last.) They have four grown homeschooled children. (And finally some grandchildren!) At one time Will was a public school teacher, but he went back to banging nails to preserve his sanity. Most of his professional life has been in facilities management. Will retired in 2017. He spends more time now on hobbies: vegetable gardening, propagating native plants, reading, staying abreast of current affairs, and generally going nuts. He volunteers at a private school in Fluvanna County (nature and career education). For many years Will has worked in various capacities and venues with homeschool organizations in promoting and defending home education. He is a co-founder of The Organization of Virginia Homeschoolers.
Join Will Shaw, one of the founders of The Organization of Virginia Homeschoolers, as he shares a brief history of homeschooling in Virginia, some “war stories” of conflicts and major battles that were fought, the beginnings of VaHomeschoolers, and why VaHomeschoolers has been an effective homeschooling advocate in Virginia.
